Hi Liv and Belle!

I just wanted to tell you how much I love your website! I made the
recipe for PB & Apple that was on your website today, and it was
really good! I think that if you had your own Spatulatta TV show a lot of people
would watch it. Anyway, thanks for all of your great recipes!

Sincerely,
Amber from Iowa

Mary Lou's Letter to Liv & Belle

Hello Liv and Belle,

Congratulations on a terrific cookbook! I just bought one for my niece and nephew -
Luca and Gabriella Di Paolo who live in Montreal, Quebec. They are 10 and 12 years
old. They are looking forward to a "cooking camp" in my Toronto kitchen when they
visit in July! Your cookbook will be just perfect for them as they look forward to
developing their culinary skills.

I am your father's second cousin and live in Toronto. It has been quite some time
since we talked!

Warmest wishes to all of you!
Mary Lou

Oops! A correction on our Passover Show

Our friend Gila writes:

I'm Jewish and when I watched your video about charoset with Eli
and Belle, I saw a few mistakes that are pretty funny:
1. That thing about the orange - where'd you hear that from?!
2.Um, the egg and parsley do NOT symbolize spring!
The parsley dipped in salt water symbolizes how the Jews had dipped leaves
in blood and had put it on their door post so Hashem (God) would know to
pass over them and not kill their eldest sons. The egg represents the
sacrifice of a lamb to God the night when the Jews were set free.

Spatulatta answers:

I think the orange showed up on the plate because Eli and his mom are vegetarians or was it because they liked the color. We're polite folks and try not to contradict our guests. If they show up with a Seder plate with an orange on it, who are we to tell them they're wrong?

We've heard a lot of different interpretations of the parsley dipped in water. Some people say the salty water symbolizes the tears shed by the Jews in captivity but your version makes a lot more sense. Thank you for setting us straight.

Now I have a question for you. I thought the shank bone represented the lamb sacrifice. Since Eli and his mom are vegetarians they weren't going to put that on their Seder plate!
